The unit on the rental is the stock line
LW-07 was bought, received and counted in Inventory. The rental holds that line for four days, the return puts it back, and a unit in repair is a unit the calendar cannot offer.

A client asks for three units over a weekend. The desk picks the dates, the calendar says which units are free once the turnaround time is counted, and the rental is reserved with the units held on it.

What you rent by the hour or by the month, what you hold as a deposit and what a late return costs are yours to set.
Each item carries its own price list by duration, and the rental picks the rate that fits the dates. A minimum duration is a line on the same list.
A half day to clean and check before the unit is free again. The calendar counts it, so the next reservation cannot start before it.
Fixed, a share of the rental or per unit, received before pickup, and released on return for what came back whole.
A return date passed is a reminder to the client, then a fee line at the rate you set, without anyone watching the clock.
The LED wall has a serial number and a history; the mic sets are a count. Both are rented, both are checked, only one is asked where it has been.
What adapts: what a unit is (a serialised item, a counted stock, a cabin with nights), how it is priced, what the client signs, what is held as a deposit, and what happens at return. An event equipment hire and a campsite run Rental and disagree on every one of those.
The unit is an LED wall with a serial number, priced by the day with a weekly rate, reserved weeks ahead with a turnaround day either side. The client signs the rental agreement by email before pickup, the deposit is a bank transfer, and the return is a scan with a photo per unit, a damage line and a repair job when a panel comes back cracked.
The unit is an e-bike priced by the hour or the day, or a cabin priced by the night with a season. Nothing is signed: the booking confirmation is the document, the deposit is a hold on the guest's card, and the return is the bike scanned back at the shed with an odometer photo, or the cabin's cleaning check before the next arrival.
The rental agreement is a template: your clauses, your insurance terms, your logo, and variables for the units, the dates, the rates and the deposit. A rental generates its contract from those, the signature block is bound to the client's contact, and the signed PDF and its proof file come back to the rental, not to a folder. Change a clause on the template and the next contract carries it.
See Sign.
Signed from the email, on any phone. The contact opens the invitation, reads the agreement, signs with a finger. The rental turns to Signed the moment the stroke lands.Karim scans the LED wall back in on Monday morning. The phone shows the rental it belongs to, asks for its condition, takes the photo of the cracked panel, puts €320.00 against the deposit and opens the repair job. The desk sees the rental turn to Returned, the deposit split, and the invoice drafted, before the van is unloaded.
Every unit over the fortnight: what is out and to whom, what is due back today, what is in repair, and the turnaround between two rentals. A request is placed on it by dragging the dates onto a free unit.

Drafted from the return, the damage on its own line, sent on the network from Invoicing, followed up from there.
Generated from the rental, signed from the email, the proof file on the rental and the pickup unlocked.
The client picks the unit and the dates on your site; the reservation is on this calendar with the turnaround counted, and the contract goes out.
The cracked panel opens a maintenance job on LW-07 with the cost on it, and the unit is blocked on the calendar until it closes.

Yes. On its own it is a catalogue of units, a calendar, a contract and a return check. Turn Inventory on and the units are the stock lines the warehouse already counts; turn Invoicing on and the return drafts the invoice.
