How does it connect to Accounting and to Project?

A cell reads invoices with a formula and a filter, and it reads the project's hours and cost the same way. A column marked as writing back sends a budget line to the project or a price to the product. Nothing is exported in either direction.

How does the refresh work?

There is none to run. The cell is a formula over the record, so when the record changes the cell does, and the sheet says when it last did.

Who sees what in a shared sheet?

Each viewer sees the cells whose records they may see, field by field. The accountant sees net and VAT on every invoice and no margin, because that is their right on the invoice, and the sheet inherits it.

Can I bring in the workbook I have today?

Yes. Import it as a sheet, then replace the pasted columns with formulas over the records one by one; the layout and the formulas that do not touch records stay as they are.

Does the sheet write back?

Only the columns you mark, to the field you name, with the author and the time on the record. Everything else is read only.

Refresh is not a step

A wholesaler setting its price list

The sheet's rows are product lines from the catalogue, the cost column reads the last purchase price, the price column is typed and writes back to the product, the margin is a formula between the two, and a rule turns any line under the target amber. Purchasing sees the cost column; the sales team sees the price.

An agency reading utilisation and budget

The sheet's rows are projects, the hours columns read the timesheets, utilisation is billable over logged, the budget column reads the quote, and nothing writes back: the sheet is where the account leads read, not where they type. The rate column is Finance's.

A price typed in the sheet is a price on the product.

The sales lead reprices the Q4 list in the sheet, line by line, with the cost and the margin beside each price. Every price typed lands on the product record with who typed it and when, and the next quote for Delcourt & Fils picks it up. No export, no import, no second file called "final".

What the sheet reads, and where it writes.

A sheet does not own its numbers. It reads the invoices Accounting holds, the hours Timesheets logged on the project, the stock lines Inventory counts, and it shows them as cells. When a column is set to write back, what you type lands on the record: a price on the product the next quote will pick up, a budget line on the project. Everything else stays where it was, with the rights it had.
